Delete the files or folders that’re taking up the most space. And unless you empty it, the Trash keeps everything you ever deleted. The Downloads folder keeps everything you’ve ever downloaded. To do so, you can: In the menu bar, click Finder, then select Go. Empty the Trash and Downloads folder Both the Trash and the Downloads folder on your Mac regularly fill up with useless files over time.
